The Public Investor

Privacy & financial disclaimer

Effective 15 October 2026. The Public Investor is an independently operated personal blog based in Ohio, United States. This notice covers this website, its email waitlist and related correspondence. Contact: wockstar121@gmail.com.

Email waitlist and consent

If you sign up, I collect your email address, the time of your request and the version and wording of the consent you gave. The unchecked signup box asks permission to send launch updates and The Sunday Edition by email when available. Joining is optional and is not a condition of reading the blog. I do not use the address for unrelated marketing, sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers.

Your request is stored privately in Supabase. Saving an address does not verify that you own it, confirm email delivery or start an automated newsletter. No sending provider is connected at launch. Before sending begins, the service and this notice will be updated as needed, with an unsubscribe method and required sender details. Addresses must not be used beyond the purpose people agreed to without an appropriate basis or renewed consent where required.

Removal, access and correction

Email wockstar121@gmail.com to withdraw your signup request, correct your address or ask about personal information held about you. Use the address concerned where possible; I may ask for proportionate verification to prevent someone else removing or obtaining your information. Do not send passwords, authenticator codes or identity documents unless a suitable verification method has first been agreed. I will assess requests and any applicable access, deletion, correction, objection, restriction, portability or appeal rights under the law that applies. Where consent is relied on, withdrawal stops future processing based on that consent; it does not undo earlier lawful processing. You can also contact the relevant privacy regulator where that right applies. There is no reader-account requirement to make a request.

Retention

Unused waitlist requests and their consent records are deleted from the active database after 90 days by an hourly cleanup; deletion can lag that limit by up to an hour. A verified removal request can be deleted sooner. If a sending service is introduced, any transfer and revised retention will be explained before that change; the waitlist is not kept indefinitely merely because messages may be sent later. Correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to respond, resolve corrections or requests and maintain necessary legal or editorial records. Provider logs and backups can have separate retention cycles, so active deletion is not a promise of immediate erasure from every backup.

Site operation and service providers

Vercel hosts this site, and Supabase stores its content, Writer account and waitlist. Gmail processes messages sent to the contact address. Providers receive information needed to deliver, secure and maintain their services, including request details such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and time. Authorized access to the waitlist is restricted to the Writer account, which requires signing in to the designated Writer account; necessary service-provider access is subject to their service arrangements. Information may be disclosed where legally required or reasonably needed to address fraud, security incidents or legal claims. Provider processing and storage may take place in the United States or other countries; protections can differ from those where you live. Where legally required, an appropriate transfer mechanism must apply.

Where applicable law requires a processing basis, requested newsletter and launch emails rely on consent; operational security and handling correspondence rely on legitimate interests where that basis is available and justified; legal duties may require records to be retained. This notice does not claim that every privacy law applies to every visitor.

Cookies, security and performance

Essential HTTP-only session cookies support Writer authentication; readers do not need an account to read articles. A signed result cookie, lasting two minutes, lets the signup result page display a verified saved-request result. It contains a result state rather than the email address. Application abuse counters use daily keyed hashes of relevant identifiers rather than raw IP addresses or email addresses in the counter table, and expire after two days with hourly cleanup. Hosting and authentication logs can contain separate request information. No security measure guarantees absolute protection.

Vercel Speed Insights is integrated on public production pages when enabled in the hosting project. It measures loading and interaction performance, with URL/route, browser, device, operating-system, network-category, country, timing and performance-attribution information. It excludes signed-in Writer sessions and pages marked noindex. Vercel describes this data as not identifying individual visitors or reconstructing their browsing sessions across pages. Its privacy information is at https://vercel.com/docs/speed-insights/privacy-policy.

The separate audience and newsletter-funnel analytics is off at launch. No advertising pixels or cross-site targeted-advertising integration is installed. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals suppress that separate first-party measurement if it is later enabled; they do not automatically switch off essential security or Speed Insights. No personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising through this site. Any future measurement change will be described here and accompanied by legally required choices before activation.

Children, other websites and changes

This blog is intended for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect signup information from children under 13. Contact me if you believe a child’s information was submitted so I can assess and remove it as appropriate. External links lead to independently operated websites with their own practices. This notice will be updated when the site’s practices materially change, with a revised effective date and additional notice or consent where required. Continued browsing is not treated as blanket consent to new uses of personal information.

No financial advice

Nothing on The Public Investor—including articles, opinions, examples, links or newsletter messages—is personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Content is general information and personal analysis. It does not take account of your financial position, investment objectives, experience or risk tolerance, and is not a recommendation that a particular investment is suitable for you.

Investing carries substantial risk

Investing involves substantial risk and can be extremely risky, particularly in emerging technologies, concentrated positions and private companies. You can lose some or all of the money invested, and you may be unable to sell when you want to. Forecasts, business plans and technical claims may not materialize. Past performance does not guarantee future results, and no return or outcome is promised here.

Before investing, evaluate your financial circumstances, ability to absorb losses, experience and tolerance for risk. Do your own research, verify time-sensitive information against original sources and seek appropriately qualified advice where needed. Do not rely on this blog as your only basis for an investment decision. This notice does not remove applicable rights or excuse false or misleading statements.
