Sourcing
The Public Investor is a personal blog about the companies and technology behind AI. I aim to share useful news and explain what I think it means, without presenting an opinion or a company’s ambition as an established fact.
Where information comes from
I link to the records, announcements, research and reporting behind material claims. Company announcements describe the company’s position and are identified that way. When drawing on another writer’s reporting, I credit the original source. AI-generated text is not a source: factual claims and quotations still need checking against the underlying material.
Facts and interpretation
I distinguish reported facts from estimates, forecasts, targets and my own analysis. Planned capacity is not operating capacity, funding is not revenue, and a technical demonstration is not necessarily a commercial product. I include relevant dates, units and limitations, and explain when important information is unavailable or uncertain. Routine drafting or editing tools do not require a blanket label, but generated material must not be passed off as an actual interview, quotation or observation.
Things change
Company information and technology develop quickly. A post reflects the information available at its stated date, not a promise that it remains current. If I discover a material mistake, I will correct it under the Corrections policy.
